Piercing practices in australia

Although piercing services are widely available the industry has not improved as much as in other countries, and specialised piercing remains uncommon. Many practitioners lack proper training in safe practices, leading to health issues for customers.

The Association of Professional Piercers (APP) and the Australasian United Professional Piercers (AUPP) are recognised groups that promote safe body piercing through education, safety standards, and accreditation. They ensure high levels of hygiene and professionalism to protect both piercers and clients.

Globally and Locally Certified

We are certified with the Australian Professional Piercers (AUPP) and the Association of Professional Piercers (APP).

These exclusive certifications are held by only a select few studios across Australia. They ensure our processes, materials, and standards exceed industry expectations

Can anyone get this?

To become certified, studios must meet stringent requirements, including adherence to strict hygiene protocols, use of premium, biocompatible materials, and proof of ongoing education in piercing techniques and safety.

These certifications are not easily obtained and are rarely held by large piercing chains, making them a mark of exclusivity and trust.

Why does it Matter?

The AUPP and APP aim to protect clients by establishing rigorous guidelines for hygiene, safety, and jewellery standards.

Their mission is to ensure that every piercing is performed with care and precision by trained professionals.

We only do needle work piercings

We believe in safety and achieving the best result for our clients.

  • Needle piercings are less painful than 'gun' systems because sharp needles make clean holes without using blunt force.

  • Needlework is hygienic since everything is single-use and sterilised. Guns can't be sterilised, which raises concerns about spreading infections and bacteria between clients.

  • We achieve straighter results as the needle is placed directly on the mark before piercing, whereas guns may miss the target and can tear the hole due to their release method.

  • Using the same pen repeatedly can spread bacteria and infections during the piercing process.

our health and safety measures

  • All jewellery is sterilised daily, and any purchased pieces are sterilised again at the time of sale. Each sterilisation cycle is monitored with indicator tests to confirm the correct steam and heat parameters are met, ensuring optimal hygiene

  • We perform monthly third-party spore testing to verify our sterilisation machines are effectively killing bacteria. This rigorous process exceeds Australian health codes and is required by our accreditations. Without this testing, there is no guarantee of sterilisation, risking control and confidence in the equipment’s performance.

  • The procedure for every client includes single use equipment such as alcohol wipes, iodine swabs, sterile gloves, sterile prep pack, needles, tapers, marking pen with ruler and clamps to ensure a safe and sterilise procedure. Single use material reduces the risk of contamination and consequently infection, it is the best sterile way to provide a piercing procedure.

Safe and Certified Jewellery

Only Implant grade jewellery should be used for new piercings because it is made from biocompatible materials, such as titanium or 14k or higher solid gold, which minimise the risk of allergic reactions, irritation, and infection.

These materials are non-porous, corrosion-resistant, and free of harmful substances like nickel, ensuring the piercing heals properly and safely.
